OUR DIRECTORS

Club Director Matt Riley and our soon-to-be-announced Boys Division Director would love to hear from you.

Boys Travel Teams

SBVC Boys teams practice two to three times per week (varies by specific team) and compete in the SoCal Cup Event Series for regional play and the AAU/SCC Featured Event Series for national tournaments. The boys club season runs in two parts*: the Fall Season (Sept-Jan) and the Spring Season (May-June). There is a break in the middle for the boys high school volleyball season (Feb-Apr).

*13's-14's Boys Age Divisions ... For middle school boys, there is no high school boys season hiatus. The season runs from Sept-May, with practices twice per week and several smaller breaks scheduled therein. This season could also stretch into June if the team elects to participate in a multi-day year-end event.

Regional Events ... There are six to eight tournament days per season on average (or more for 13's-14's teams), depending on a specific team's schedule. These events are most commonly held on weekends in Seal Beach at AIM Sports Complex.

Featured National Events ... National travel schedules vary by team. Each season has its own unique national event schedule, which may include from zero to three out-of-state events, depending again upon the specific team your son plays for. Some of the potential featured events (specific dates will vary each season) include:

- Brickyard Battle (AAU) - November 2025 - Indianapolis, IN
- Chi-Town Boys Challenge (AAU) - November 2025 - Chicago, IL
- Winter Formal (SCC) - December 2025 - Las Vegas, NV, or Los Angeles, CA
- The Open Championship (SCC) - January 2026 - Los Angeles, CA, or Salt Lake City, UT
- Boys Junior National Qualifier (USAV) - January 2026 - Phoenix, AZ
- The SoCal Cup Showcase (SCC) - June 2026 - Los Angeles, CA
- AAU Boys National Championships (AAU) - June 2026 - Orlando, FL

SBVC Boys taps into our talent-rich community and strives to produce exceptional volleyball athletes and outstanding young men. Our travel teams and the quality of our players are proof of our success on both fronts. We have assembled an excellent coaching staff, all under the guidance of SBVC Director Matt Riley, a highly respected community figure.

We also have a boys youth and juniors training program for 5th-8th graders who want to train, but are not yet ready to step into the commitment of club volleyball in full. We encourage you to speak to our Director or any of the families in our program about what it means to be part of SBVC Boys.

Boys Non-Travel Teams

SBVC is pleased to offer the Boys Non-Travel Training Team! With the number of players seeking ways to stay involved leading up to their respective high school season, this new program will allow certain beginner and intermediate players the chance to refine and develop their skills without the cost and commitment of a travel team.

Practice ... Twice per week at UCSB, Bishop Diego HS, or the Page Youth Center.

Tournaments ... If players would like to participate in the three-day events (Winter Formal, The Open Championships, and The Showcase), the Club will work to assemble a team at an additional cost per player.

Please reach out to Club Director Matt Riley for more info at mriley@sbvbclub.com.
